Cabaret Okinawa

Cabaret Okinawa explores the relationship between the US military and its host community on Okinawa, where nearly 100,000 American service personnel, civilian employees and their families are based.

Our film looks at the ways this sometimes contentious relationship plays out in the daily life of the “occupiers” and the “occupied”, via the musicians, staff and patrons–Japanese and American–in the bars and nightclubs near US bases across the island.
